Tower Detective

These are Tower Detective handcuffs from Union Hardware. They sold for $67 after 2 bids.

Here is another recent Tower Detective from Tower, with the three bent ring chain, similar to some Towers handcuffs and Towers single/double/ lock leg irons. This pair has a nice plating and sold for $197.50 after 3 bids.

These cuffs are also known as Pinkerton, as they were supposedly used by those guys back in the old days. They are a lightweight cuff with a wide adjustment. They don't double lock. The Union Hardware version has the same type of swivels that the Bean Prison handcuffs in my other post have.

I have Towers Double Lock Handcuffs with a single long link like the topmost. My Pinkertons are actually like the second photo, albeit with a fair bit more wear; they have three bent links. I got them for $135 with 3 keys in 2020.

I've also read about a Tower Detective imitation cuff which is by all accounts of comparable quality but has several fairly obvious differences, primarily a step on the shackle vs not. There's a post detailing this on the Tapatalk forum but that is such a hard site to search through.

  1. Very nice, there are actually at least 2 distinct "copyright infringement" Tower detective aka "Pinkerton" copies.

    1. They both have that weird "step" as you say, each have use filed notches rather than milled ratchets holes as in the original, and one of the two copies has an exposed hinge rivet unlike the original.
