American Handcuff Co. A-550

Here is a nice pair of modern style hinged handcuffs from American Handcuff Company. It appears to have minor wear in limited areas congruent with moderate use. It was relisted several times, but it appears that they sold for $375, although one of the previous listings shows it was relisted after the sale and had zero bidders. I think this is just eBay glitching because the item is no longer listed. 

I have a near mint set of these which I got for $244.50 buy it now price in 2020. 

This company was located on Ruggles St in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. They made several generations of restraints, which varied greatly in quality and finish. 

These A-550s are the premium lightweight aluminum hinged handcuffs. Both steel and aluminum handcuffs were made using uniquely rounded, radiused edges. These are very smooth and well made cuffs with excellent fit and finish. The cuffs are elliptically contoured ovals, and angled in reference to one another, to reduce pressure on the wrists. These really are the most "ergonomic" and "comfortable" hinged handcuffs ever made. 

The American Handcuff Company produced a range of models including N-100 (chain handcuffs), N-200 (oversized handcuffs/short chain leg irons) N-400 (hinged handcuffs) N-550 (hinged handcuffs), N-500 (hinged handcuffs), L-100 (leg irons), L-600 (oversized leg irons), N-520 (oversized hinged handcuffs/hinged leg irons), N-550 (hinged handcuffs), A-105 (aluminum chain handcuffs), L-200 (belly chain combination), L-300 (transport combination) and JN-105 (undersized/juvenile handcuffs).  I will do a full report on the American Handcuff Company on a blog page and show these restraints from my own collection.
