Hiatt Irish 8
Here is a nice Irish 8 handcuff from Hiatt. These restraints are INCREDIBLY restrictive when used behind the back, and can also be applied in a "stacked" position similar to modern day hinged/rigid cuffs. This pair appears to be plain steel finish, which I prefer. Nickel plating looks amazing, unless it chips and flakes and wears off. Plain steel is capable of developing unique and varied patinas which add to the aesthetic value of the item.
This item sold for $93 after 20 bids. I'd consider that a good deal; the only Irish 8 cuffs I have are modern day KUB. I will make a post about KUB soon, but here are some Quick points on KUB:
1. although they are technically a modern day reproduction/replica, they are in a class of their own in regards to quality materials, fit, and finish, rivaling even the finest Vintage makers.
2. KUB industries is a manufacturer. Handcuff Warehouse has been the primary source in the USA along with Clawfoot Productions (cuffstore.com) and a few overpriced sellers on Etsy or eBay.
3. I've never seen anyone claim that a KUB cuff was antique, vintage.
