Providence Tool Company Darby Handcuffs
Here is a very nice pair of Darby handcuffs from Providence Tool Company. The seller mentioned they may have been replated at some point, that's how good they look.
Here is the key, and the only thing wrong with these. Apparently someone thought the key "wouldn't go in enough?" Or something, because they filed/ground the shoulder part off of the key. The seller says it works fine as a pull key. I would be tempted to try to JB weld a shoulder for the key to operate as it should.
These are still on auction for another hour or so. I will update once they sell.
These sold for $150 which was the opening bid.
Here is a close up of the hinges. A great example of true vintage cuff design to compare to the cheap fake scrap detailed in a few earlier posts. This is how blacksmiths and metalworkers made a hinge.
