Peerless Handcuffs 1925
This is an antique set of Peerless swing through, ratcheting handcuffs, for sale on eBay with a Buy it now price of $340 and includes two original keys and an original box (non matching serial #s).
This design was the direct precursor to the modern Peerless swing through.
These are otherwise entirely modern with key operated double lock, swivels integrated into the cuff body, and a recognizable design including ditched jaws, double/single strand, and flagged key. The key here however is not hollow, and there is no key post. Rather, a protrusion at the tip of the key fits in to a hole in the rear plate of the cuff, reverse of the keyhole.
It's interesting to note that this key design is now being used on many "civilian retail" model handcuffs. This is because the design (not applicable to the Peerless above) means that "official" Handcuff keys (S&W/Peerless/etc) WILL open these consumer brand cuffs, but the keys that will now be in the hands of that many more civilians, WILL NOT open "official" handcuffs. The lack of a key post also means that it will be significantly easier for these off brand cuffs to be picked with a bobby pin.
