Hiatt Darby Handcuffs (with boxes)

This is a like new, vintage Hiatt 104 model with the original box and 1 original key. Starting bid $9.99 on eBay.

UPDATE: These sold for $89.88 after 20 bids! Great deal on a collectable quality steel restraint with box and key.
The 104 was available in multiple sizes. This is size two and a half. I believe this is an inch measurement of diameter.

These are the real steel restraints, before Hiatt switched to Alloy for their Darby cuffs. I like the alloy cuffs too, for what they are, (light weight Darby cuffs with nice finishes), but the original steel version is preferable. This is one of the last versions of the Hiatt darby handcuff produced. The keys are rather plain, while the swivels are smaller, more refined, almost delicate.

I once found these being sold in the gift shop of some sort of historical site... Gettysburg, PA or somewhere like that. I was on a middle school trip. The super cool blond skater dude in my class bought a pair and I remember he was wearing them in front, in his lap, on the bus ride home.

The bottom of the box shows a few other products. If they had included the matching leg irons on the back, and I had seen this back then, I would have been obsessed and fixated on Darby leg irons even earlier.

I have never seen a matching box for Hiatt Darby leg irons. I suppose these handcuffs with above box are the "retail packaging" for private sale. The cuffs sold to police or military likely didn't come with boxes.

Here is another pair that sold for $73 on November 12th after 14 bids.

If you compare these with the prior boxed set you can see some differences both subtle and obvious. Namely, the swivels are different, and the keys as well, but the cuffs themselves are slightly different too. The design was long lasting but small variations evolved over time and between makers. If I were to guess, I would say this pair is older than the boxer pair, not just based on surface condition but based on design elements. This swivel is much more considerable than the previous one.

This is another older set of Hiatt Darby Handcuffs. These sold for $100 with only 1 bid. There is no key pictured but the seller says one non original working key is included.
This pair is in very good condition.

Here is another pair of Hiatt Darby Handcuffs. These sold for $189.95 with 1 original key.

This is a beautiful patina starting to form on these cuffs. The solid base will continue to build and darken.
This is a really nice set. They were on sale for a long time, because the asking price was a bit high, but the combination of advanced patina and very good condition (the seller states the key works very smoothly) mean this is a special piece for anyone's collection.

Here's another late model steel Hiatt darby handcuff with box and 1 original key. These sold for $112.50 with 39 bids.
