Harrington and Richardson Super Handcuffs x3

Here is a near mint condition set of H & R Super Handcuffs with two keys. Seller states keys are original and "works if you fiddle with it a bit" which along with the appearance of the keys tells me these are NOT original keys. My H & R Super Handcuffs have a replacement key and work fine.

Starting bid $199.99 which seems too high.

Above, close up detail of the keyway built in to the clevis. It's only accessible when the clevis is at a ninety degree angle like this.

Below, this is a very rare example of the H & R Super Handcuffs with a black finish. This is very unusual as I have never seen another pair with this finish.
This pair is listed with a $299 starting bid. They've been listed for quite some time.
Beautiful black finish on these cuffs.
Now these are almost certainly original keys. Note the uniform key design compare to above example. My replacement key does have this design so it's not a guarantee but the key is fairly simple.
Above, close up detail of the makers mark stamp with patent number. Below, close up detail of the clevises and keys. The black finish sure looks good.

Below, another example with two straight chain links between the clevises. This set comes with two original keys and the current bid is $3.25

And finally here is an example of the Chinese made modern copy of this antique design. This set is for sale at $109.99 with two original keys. Note the design of the cuffs themselves is almost identical other than the small domed brass rivet at the top end of the lock tubes, the embossed reinforcement on the double strand, and the addition of an O ring between the clevises. Additionally, these cuffs use a star wheel type lock mechanism whereas the original design used a ratchet. I had a pair of these but I broke them; they are certainly inferior to the H & R or the Finnish version.
