Hiatt Irish 8 handcuffs

This is an excellent condition example of the Irish 8 which was said to have been used in Ireland, historically.

These are listed with a starting bid of $79.99 with the original key.

UPDATE: these SOLD for an amazing $332.50 after sixteen bids. This price confirms my belief that this more refined craftsmanship on this example indicates an older and more valuable Hiatt Irish 8 design.

Above, view of the restraint unlocked and open. This is a snap shut lock. The restraint itself is VERY restrictive.

While the Irish 8  can be used in a "stacked" position or arms parallel, that is, with elbows bent and forearms parallel either in front or behind, much like the modern Hiatt rigid cuff, it can also be used the same way as hinged handcuffs, with the wrists back to back and palms out. In this position, the Irish 8 is unbelievably restrictive behind the back and only slightly less so in front, with the palms together.

KUB made a wide variety of Irish 8 restraints, including ankle restraints and models with dual keyways/lock tubes. I have several of those but no Irish 8 by Hiatt.

Note how this pair compares to recent auctions for Irish 8 handcuffs.

Two pairs, both of what I believe to be more recent production runs from Hiatt, one with a key for $93 and another WITHOUT a key for $140.
