Grab bag #3

Above, American Munitions Company leg irons modified with a large central O ring. These sold for $127.50 after 7 bids. 

These have an engraving for Maclaren School which is a Juvenile corrections facility in Oregon, USA. 

These have also had the hinge rivets connecting the double strand to the single strand welded over. I've seen this on some Peerless leg irons that came from a prison environment; discussion was that this was likely to prevent tampering. Between the welding and the custom O ring, these were likely used for securement to a fixed object as punishment or while unsupervised. 

Above and below, an interesting and unique transitional example from the period when American Munitions Company had become American Handcuff Company, but had yet to introduce their new radiused designs. 

Above and below, a handcuff example of the same transitional period. These cuffs are produced with the earlier American Munitions Company design but stamped with the cursive American Handcuff Company makers mark. Note the placement of these makers marks on the single strand as opposed to the following production of American Handcuff Company with the makers mark on the cuff body itself.

Above and below, a very nice pair of early Darby handcuffs, likely from Hiatt. These sold on a Facebook group. Beautiful patina, brilliantly finished and crafted, ornate key. Darbies are my very favorite cuffs.

Above and below, a very rare possibly one of a kind Darby leg iron in unfinished brass. These are absolutely gorgeous. Note the steel chain and swivel, and what appears to be a Broad Arrow mark perhaps?

Below, a modern interpretation of the Bilboes or rigid ankle restraints. These were made for or by Fetters, the UK fetish group which has a passion for vintage and antique designs, having been instrumental in bringing the alloy Darby production runs to the American market. These came with a period padlock with a complex key. 

Above, a very rare hinged Darby handcuff. These are linked together with a single roller chain link which, although it can't be seen here, is stamped on each rivet with an H for Hiatt, making me think these actually are factory. They sold for cheap. 

Above and below, a very nice Clejuso adjustable Darby leg iron. Like most Clejuso darbies, these have a wide range of adjustment.
