Wow! Rare AHC L-600 oversized leg irons for spare change
Here is a slightly worn but otherwise good condition example of the very rare American Handcuff Company L-600 boot cuff. This is designed to go over heavy work boots, cowboy boots, or even a cast.
This rare restraint sold for only $25, more proof that people selling or buying antique and vintage restraints needs to follow my page. I considered messaging the seller to this effect so that they may get a fair price for any future sales, but eBay has a lot of rules about sending links or anything that could be seen as manipulation of prices.
Below, close up detail of the distinct American Handcuff Co, Fond du Lac, Wis. Makers mark.Note too that these do not have the normal radiused edges of the other American Handcuff Company restraints; the theory is that these would be used over boots anyway.
Above, this is a single cuff from the L-600 which sold for $76 after 13 bids! Seems the previous seller could have cut the cuffs apart, sold them separately, and kept the chain!
For reference, I would have gladly clicked buy it now for five times that price, and they could have fetched more.
Above, the original box for the L-600 which sold in another auction. Note the inner perimeter is reported as 12.5" to 16.25" on the box.Above, this is a single cuff from the L-600 which sold for $76 after 13 bids! Anyway, here is an AHC catalog view which came from the L-600 box sale.
Chicago Handcuff Company produced a remake of the AHC L-600 which is called Model 2500. I was told that they sent an L-600 overseas to be replicated and produced. It sells for $78 on Handcuff Warehouse. Three times what this authentic vintage pair sold for up top. Sad. People need to know what they are selling and buying.
